Original Kitchen
We are still waiting for our kitchen renovation to start! It was supposed to be finished weeks ago and then it was suppose to start the day after Christmas, today, with a few other start dates between. Now it’s starting at 8 am tomorrow, the 27th. Our kitchen is bare and everything that lived in the kitchen now lives in the dining room. Between that, an oven, dishwasher and microwave in the living room and all the gifts my kids got from family and friends on Christmas it is not comfortable. It will all be worth it in the end. I have to keep telling myself that.
I’ve set up a mini kitchen in the dining room on a stand. We have our old tiny microwave and toaster oven with a few everyday things we eat and snack on. I’ll also be borrowing one of my parents electric water kettles for our morning coffee and oatmeal. The main bathroom is a makeshift dishwashing area although I might go out and buy some compostable plates and bowls. I feel weird washing dishes in a bathroom that also houses our cat litter. UCK.
The one thing we are very lucky with is that my parents own this two family house and they live below us. I’ve offered to cook them dinner every night once the reno starts. That way we don’t have to eat out too much, which saves us a ton of money and I’ll still get to keep doing what I enjoy!
Cross your fingers our doorbell rings at 8 am tomorrow and its our contractor ready to start!
